Glenn Beck on Ron Paul: Soros Connection? 9/11 Truther?

Apparently Barney Frank and Ron Paul partnered in a project called the Sustainable Defense Task Force in which the main purpose was to reduce defense spending by around $1Trillion over the next ten years.  I am in favor of making some cuts to the defense budget but these type of deep cuts are irresponsible and will be detrimental to the safety of the U.S.  Anything that says "sustainable" or has that in its title I am quite leery of.  That usually means that the group follows progressive principles which seeks to undermine the Constitution and all that makes the United States good as a nation.

There is a difference between cutting and gutting the defense budget.  Plus, the cuts that Ron Paul, Barney Frank, Soros & Co proposed is not limited to the reduction of the number of bases and/or military personnel overseas but rather it guts very important parts of defense that our integral to our national security.

Here is a list of the the individuals on the Task Force.

Sustainable Defense Task Force

  • Carl Conetta, Project on Defense Alternatives - Connected to George Soros
  • Benjamin H Friedman, Cato Institute -
  • William D Hartung, New America Foundation - Connected to George Soros
  • Christopher Hellman, National Priorities Project - Connected to Soros
  • Heather Hurlburt, National Security Network - Connected to George Soros
  • Charles Knight, Project on Defense Alternatives - Connected to Soros
  • Lawrence J Korb, Center for American Progress - Connected to Soros
  • Paul Kawika Martin, Peace Action - Connected to George Soros
  • Laicie Olson, Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation - Connected to Soros
  • Prasannan Parthasarathi, Boston College
  • Miriam Pemberton, Institute for Policy Studies
  • Laura Peterson, Taxpayers for Common Sense
  • Christopher Preble, Cato Institute
  • Winslow Wheeler, Center for Defense Information - Connected to George Soros

Front Page Mag provides more insight into those who have Soros connections.

The panel of experts who would decide how to best gut national defense featured such independent thinkers as William D. Hartung of the New America Foundation. Hartung’s main expertise was appearing in “Hijacking Catastrophe: 9/11, Fear & the Selling of American Empire.”
Then there was Lawrence J. Kolb of the Center for American Progress and Miriam Pemberton of the Institute for Policy Studies. If you want to know what the Center, the Foundation and the Institute all have in common, it’s Hungarian and smells like stale cabbage and the death of nations.
The rather creepy Institute for Policy Studies issued a paper proposing that Obama act as king and rule through executive orders. The New American Foundation is not only backed by Soros but has his son on its leadership council. The Center for American Progress is run by the co-chair of Obama’s transition team and is, for all intents and purposes, the think tank of the White House. All three are Soros funded.
But it doesn’t end there. Also on the panel was Christopher Hellman of the National Priorities Project (NPP). If you are wondering what the NPP is, it’s a think tank whose objective is to “influence national spending priorities.”  And if you’re in the mood for a double, Miriam Pemberton is also on the board of the NPP. The man behind the curtain at NPP? None other than our favorite Hungarian James Bond villain.
Going further down the list there’s Winslow Wheeler of the Center for Defense Information (CDI).           The CDI’s goal is to strengthen “national and international security through international cooperation [and] reduced reliance on unilateral military power to resolve conflict.” CDI operates under the aegis of the World Security Institute, which is apparently the least creepy name they could think of. Wheeler is a Counterpunch contributor, a site which even Stalinists think goes a bit too far. CDI gets money from the Open Society Institute (OSI) where the stench of death and stale cabbage never goes away.
You can see additional information here
Did you see that 9 out of the 14 members on the Task Force are connected to George Soros?  I find that deeply troubling.  I find that troubling on so many levels, especially since Ron Paul claims to be "principled".  If he is so principled why did he allow so many people (or any) with connections to George Soros to sit on his Sustainable Defense Task Force?

From FrontPage Mag: "The task force’s proposals included cutting nuclear deterrence; reducing the fleet by 57 ships, including two carriers; canceling the Joint Strike Fighter; “severely curtail missile defense” — and that is a direct quote from the report — retiring four Marine battalions; reducing the military by 200,000 personnel; cutting defense research spending by 50 billion over ten years; and increasing health care fees for members of the military."

I agree with Beck's assessment of Ron Paul.

Beck: If the Tea Party Supports Gingrich Over Obama 'It Must Be About Race' ; Breitbart Rails Against Beck

First, here are the words from the horse's mouth.

Does Beck have an alter ego or something? One of sensibility and the other of insensibility? This is an outrageous comment!  He is feeding the liberal media. Beck needs to stop giving liberals fodder with such an irresponsible and fallacious comment.  To think that Gingrich believes in progressive policies just as Barack Obama does is preposterous.

One difference between Obama and Gingrich that I can think of right off the bat is Obama signed into law Obamacare and Newt has vowed to repeal Obamacare.

Second, now you can listen to Breitbart as he gives beck a tongue-lashing.  And, deservedly so IMO.

I have to say I am surprised to find out about this feud between Andrew Breitbart and Glenn Beck.  It is sad to see two conservatives having so much animosity toward one another.

I found this spot-on quote from Stacy McCain, the Master of Conservative Bloggery  via the Big Dog Conservative Maestro, Bob, from over at The Camp Of The Saints.

From The Other McCain:

While I have defended Beck against his critics in the past, his recent antics certainly lend credence to the claims of those critics who call him a "rodeo clown." I perfectly understand his assertion that Gingrich and Obama are different flavors of progressivism, but to say that the only reason Tea Party voters support Gingrich is racism? C’mon: That’s ridiculously irresponsible.
While I am not a model of dispassionate discourse, Beck’s emotionalism makes him a dangerous political ally. It is difficult to distinguish between his principles and his mood.
This comment hits the nail on the head.

Bob also posted this quote from Andrew Patrick:

…He has adopted the Garafalo argument, hook line and sinker, for no better reason than to needlessly disparage those who might favor Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination. Principled conservatives can argue over whether Gingrich is really one of us or not. But to pretend that his proposed policies differ in no significant way from Obama’s is to argue something demonstrably false. Gingrich may not be a Tea Partier; he cannot be an Obama Democrat.
That Beck has so tiresomely elided these differences indicates how erratic a tribune he has become.

Last, I recommend that you go over to Bob's Paradise of Conservative Blogging to see a quote of a scenario on our Founding Father James Otis which is apropos and may shed some light onto the whole Beck fiasco.   Maybe Beck should insert foot into mouth?

Medical Procedures.... Some Links... And Christmas Carols

I will be undergoing a couple medical procedures tomorrow so I will be taking the day off from blogging.  Here are some worthwhile links.

Judicial Watch has uncovered some documents which shows that the "pro-life" executive order Obama signed after the passage of Obamacare ain't worth the piece of paper its signed on.  The rest of the story is here.

Ron Paul breaks ranks from a Republican Conference earmark moratorium.  He is one of four Republicans to include earmarks in the 2011 budget.  More here.

Beck asked some hard-hitting questions in his interview with Newt Gingrich.  I thought that it was a pretty good interview.  Here is the interview.

Gingrich has affirmed his pro-life views after having made a bumbling misstatement answer to a question on when he believes life begins. More here.

Then we have some thuggery occurring in the Windy City.  Two people brutally beat an 80-year old priest as he lay asleep in his rectory.  Prayers for his healing.  Full story here.

The NAACP has petitioned the U.N. over what it perceives to be 'voter suppression'.  The NAACP claims that blacks and Hispanics will be disenfranchised in the next election. Such absurdities.... What some states have instituted is voter registration or voter I.D. requirements in order to prove citizenship when voting.  The U.N. better stay the heck out of our next election.   Story here.

Felonious Munk's wild anti-Obama rant on government debt/debt ceiling *profanity alert*

I usually don't post anything with excessive profanity but this rant is too good and will have you laughing - or gasping.

Felonious Munk talks politics with The Blaze. His various views are all across the political spectrum.

Here are Felonious Munk's views:

“I hate partisan anything,” he told The Blaze from Virginia Beach, VA. “I rant just as much about Republicans as I do Democrats. I rant just as much about the Tea Party as I do liberals.” In fact, he thinks the idea of loyalty to a party is “retarded.”
In fact, he said he supports the president — whether George W. Bush or Barack Obama. But he always retains “the constitutional right to say, ‘that’s ridiculous.’”
Still can’t pin him down? You probably won’t be able to put him in a simple partisan box. Consider this: he’s not a fan of the health care bill (he calls it the “ugliest quilted blanket of health care crap I’ve ever seen”), but has a soft spot for Canada’s single-payer health system.
That seems to lean liberal.
“I think our government has made everything they possible could more difficult, and that‘s just during Obama’s presidency,” he said, later adding, “I think [the health care bill] was one of those things where you made a promise and now you force yourself to keep that promise even though what you eventually came up with was crap.” In other words, “squash it.”
That seems to lean conservative.
He doesn’t think the country is headed for communism like some conservatives, but he believes some of the “socialist” programs put in place during the Great Depression weren’t meant to go on indefinitely, and now some people have become dependent on them.
Liberal and conservative?
The rant he delivered that caught Beck’s eye, he explained, was just one of many issues he has with the president.
“There are, oh my God, a million things.” For example, he’s opposed to foreign aid to Somalia and Israel alike.
Still, he admits some of the things he ranted about in the video were slightly exaggerated for comedic effect.
What is he, then? How about a comedic conundrum.
Who is Felonious Munk?
Felonious Munk isn’t really Felonious Munk. His real name is Dennis Banks. And he said this is the first time he’s admitted that to the media.
He has a surprisingly deep knowledge of history — he spouted off people (both politicians and comedians) and terms from days past like he was, well, a stand-up version of Beck. And his path to comedy wasn’t an ordinary one. He went to college for accounting but then switched to IT after being bored with the former. He then worked in finance for almost 12 years, specifically in the car sales business.
Then, he said, the economy “forced” him into comedy — which is a way of saying business wasn’t good so he chose to do what he loved.
Still, his brand of comedy is different. There are curse words. It can be crass. There are plenty of laughs. But he also wants his craft to make people think.
“I thought comedy was always, ‘make me laugh, but let me go home and think about it,’” he explained, which he says is the offspring of his humor and his different way of thinking about things. Now he’s traveling across the country sharing it with as many people as possible.
And now, because of Beck, he’s tapping an audience that might not have ever known about him. And he’s okay with that. He’s even going to work it into his routine.
“I’m sure Glenn Beck is going to be a part of a few of my shows coming up. As a matter of fact, he’ll probably get a tribute video,” he said chuckling. Which is ironic, he added, because he’s made videos bashing Fox News in the past.
Almost twenty minutes into the interview, he finally started cracking jokes: “I think it’s kind of cool that Glenn Beck sees this video and goes, ‘Wow, this guy who kind of looks like bin Laden makes a point that I agree with.’” He‘s even thinking about donning a turban and Photoshopping himself shaking Beck’s hand.
And what about Beck’s own joke at the end of his radio show Thursday, wondering if Munk (or Banks) would be willing to join GBTV as a comedian?
“Truthfully, the only way you could get me to shave my beard is if I had that opportunity,” he said while laughing. “If Glenn Beck wanted to make me the Lewis Black of his new TV show, tell him I’m all over it, I’ve got material for months, and I’ve got a couple of really nice suits.”
“We could be like the Run DMC of the new politics.”
Now that’s a funny image.

Beck's Family Gets Harassed, Woman Claims Innocence But...; Why Can't People Just Get Along & Respect Others' Personal Space?

Until liberal fascism came along and reared it's ugly head we all could get along, at least most people across America could.  Were liberals taught to respect others?  Have they become mature adults?  I even see people who are liberals in my own family who hold onto childish grudges and haven't grown up into mature adults.  I don't think having a child automatically makes you mature either.  I don't even think being monetarily stable necessarily makes one a mature person.  Maturity has to come from inside oneself.  I used to be jealous of certain people in my family because materialistically speaking they were and are better off than I.  But, I'm not any more.  I actually feel sorry for them now.  I have been through major life experiences that they have not.  These circumstances have forced me to grow up. I have come a long way in the maturing process during both my teenage and adult years.  I hold certain convictions because of both my faith and my political beliefs and I stand true to my convictions.  I have not chosen to take the easy road in our society which says the only thing that matters is the person's feelings.  We must all take responsibility for our own lives.  Yes, I do think if one family member had to deal with certain things that another family didn't have to endure, and if a family member member(s) responded or just didn't respond then that could have played a role in how a person may have chosen this or that path.  But, it is ultimately the individual's decision how they choose to live their life - responsibly or not.  My parents have taught me a very important prayer which I try to remember as often as possible.  I highly recommend it. Here it is:

Sorry, kinda went on a tangent.... Glenn Beck, his wife and daughter were harassed by some liberals who hold a childish, low-class mentality while they were attending an outside movie event in Bryant Park.  During the summer New York City's Bryant Park hosts weekly showings of classic films where you can bring blankets lay out on the lawn, watch a classic movie, and enjoy yourself.

From The Blaze (My comments will be in BOLD) :

As Beck explained, he attended Monday night‘s public showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps” with his wife and daughter. During the film, he was ridiculed, had someone “kick a cup” of wine on his wife and on his blanket, and even witnessed another person stand up and yell, “We hate conservatives here!”
“These people were some of the most hateful people I have ever seen,” Beck said. “All I wanted to do is go out on a blanket with my family and have dinner in the afternoon sun and sit around Americans, not like-minded Americans, and just watch a movie in the park.  And last night at about‑‑ when the movie was just about over, my wife and I got out because it was hostile.
When Beck left near the end of the movie, the crowd applauded.
“I don’t know what kind of victory you thought you won,” Beck said on radio in response, and later added, “I swear to you I think if I would have suggested, and I almost did, wow, does anybody have a rope, because there’s a tree here, you could just lynch me. And I think there would have been a couple in the crowd that would have.”

Despite the obvious hurtful elements of the story, Beck used it as an opportunity to deliver a message to conservatives:
All through the evening, I wanted to say to you today, please, please, please don’t ever treat anybody like that. If Van Jones comes and sits next to you, please don’t treat anybody like that, and then I realized I don’t have to say that to you. I was there at 8/28.  I saw when people were pointing their finger in your face and calling you a racist, setting you up, egging you on, I saw how you reacted. I don’t have to tell you that.
Later in the evening, he admitted he had to call his daughter and console her because she was so distraught.

Here is Beck telling the story of the actual events:

Why was it impossible for those liberals to simply watch the movie and let everyone enjoy watching the movie?  Well... Okay. Liberals like to ruin enjoyment, freedom, and liberty for everyone else as long as it doesn't affect them.  And, sometimes they do even it does affect them because they simply like to run, control, and ruin everyones' lives. What childish beasts!  Apparently some liberal attendee at the movie event has taken offense at what Beck said on the radio and has claimed that his version of the fiasco in Bryant Park is false.  A lib taking offense and claiming something is false when.... Who woulda thunk?  When in fact her tweets show a very different story.

First, here are her claims as written to New York Magazine:

 To Whom It May Concern:
Just a quick FYI -saw your article on Mr. Beck and his numerous FALSE claims about the way that he was treated at Bryant Park last night. Myself and several of my friends were seated immediately behind Mr. Beck & co (have pictures) and I can tell you that while the crowd was certainly not *thrilled* that he had shown up, his family was left completely alone, and for the most part he was too. Conversely, it was his security detail (two body guards) that seemed to be unnecessarily prickly with the crowd, scolding myself and my friends for acrobatics and other harmless activities taking place well before the movie started, and contributing to a considerably less relaxed atmosphere than is typically experienced during BPMN (I’ve been going for about six years now).
It was my friend that spilled the glass of wine on Tanya -and I can assure you that it was a complete accident. A happy one, to be sure, but nonetheless a complete and utter accident. As soon as the wine spilled (and I question how Tanya became soaked from a half glass of wine) apologies were made and my friends pretty much scrambled to give Tanya & co napkins -no doubt aware that it would look terrible and that their actions could be perceived as purposeful. No words were exchanged after that, as I think that it became pretty clear to Beck & co that my friends and I were doing everything in our capacity to help clean the “mess”.
I‘m sure it’s unnecessary to point out the hypocrisy in Glen’s statements that we were being hateful. I can assure him that we don’t need his sympathy. Incidentally, none of us have made a career of “spewing hate” on the radio, or any other media platform. We live our lives intolerant only of those who don’t tolerate: We have chosen New York as our city for that very reason. We do things like go to Bryant Park Movie Night, and vote to legalize gay marriage. We don’t taunt Glen, or his family. And we certainly don’t waste our wine, even on Tanya.
Thanks, and please let me know if you have further questions.
Lindsey Piscitell

Glenn will be issuing an apology... Or not?  They did a little research into the person who is Lindsay Piscitell.

She posts some of that poetry on her Tumblr blog:
The muffled voice of the car horns
sang homage to married airshafts
and the clouds crept back to their night beds
while the teapot grew much older.
She also has a Twitter account…though that account is “protected” for confirmed followers only.
However, when GlennBeck.com’s Wilson Garrett simply Googled her name he did notice this:
This is the same woman who claimed to be "less than thrilled" that Beck and his family were sitting right in front of her.  Less than thrilled is an understatement to say the least.
The link in that Tweet to FourSquare had the pictures of Glenn and his family on their blanket.  It was active until a few hours ago.  But….it’s now not there:
Why did she delete the photo? What does she have to hide? If and it is a big if indeed, her pic could have proven her account of the events why would she have deleted the photo?
We also noticed that one of her Twitter followers was eager to respond to her notification about proximity to Glenn with some timely suggestions:
How about that?!  Lindsey’s pal suggests an accidental spill! The Truth becomes self-evident now.
I did want to see if Marissa had other suggestions, but guess what:
Yeah, her Twitter account is now gone.
Lindsey, we note,  tells the world on Tumblr that she is:
What can we conclude?  Is it possible that the wine spill really was accidental?  Oh, maybe.  But Twitter tells us a few things that may call her account and her motives into question.
We certainly would like to know more — but they keep deleting things!
Stay tuned for updates.
Update:
It seems that Lyndsey Piscitell was also busy posting comments on some blog posts about the Beck encounter.  At least we know that it is someone using the same name as she uses on Twitter (dANGLINGbABY), and claiming to be in the group involved in the encounter.
Of course the “truly accidentally” part might be suspect now that we know about the friends Twitter suggestion.
AND was it a bottle?  I thought she said it a glass?
Glenn also pointed out on the radio this morning that the suggestion about “accidentally” kicking him the mouth might have played a role in the “acrobatics” going on near them.
Lyndsey’s e-mail to New York Magazine depicts innocuous interaction…”his family was left completely alone, and for the most part he was too”…while pointing any blame on Beck’s security detail.  I‘ve watched Glenn’s security team in dozens of tricky situations and they are a polite and professional group.  Certainly Lyndsey wouldn’t have done anything deliberate to draw their attention, right?
Seems a little less innocuous now, doesn’t it?
Another commenter on one blog post asks this question of the group:
Turns out dANGLINGbABY had a ready answer:
Why has Glenn not been “chased” away?  “We tried as best we could tonight.”  And then she references the picture taking, and the concept that “outside world” is trying to send a message to Glenn.  We think we get the message about what happened that night.
UPDATE:
A Sara Romanoski recently blocked her Twitter account (saromo) but a Blaze reader managed to take some screen grabs before that happened.
Early in the evening she did solicit ideas for to what to do in the situation:
She too makes reference to “accidentally” spilling wine on:
She did get her wish on the TV mention.
And she did at the time seem to want to ride the wave of attention:
Jon Stewart? Hellooooo?
The Daily Caller’s Jim Treacher quotes “saromo” saying this:
Well, I think we can conclude from the actual events as recounted from Glenn, and evidence above, that liberals are fascist pigs with absolutely no manners, no civility, totally selfish, childish, and are highly disturbed and angry liars.
